The Oracle Red Bull Racing Team has been part of F1 since 2004 with four championships won to date. Led by Christian Horner as Team Chief, the Red Bull Racing Team is one of the most popular teams on the grid thanks to the charisma of drivers Max Verstappen and Checo Perez. Yesterday May 29th, 2022 Mexican driver Checo Perez did the unimaginable by winning the Grand Prix of Monaco, which happens to be the most important and iconic circuit in F1. Since we are thrilled about his victory and listening to the Mexican anthem being played in Monaco was simply priceless —as our Founder was born in Mexico—, why not talk about the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition watch just unveiled last month at Watches & Wonders 2022.
Things to Know About the Watch
Part of a unique collaboration, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition is ready to roar ahead and set the pace. This dynamic chronograph is a fitting tribute to two high-energy leaders in their fields and a real challenger. Cased in a 43 mm stainless steel case, this quartz chronograph features the colors of the Formula 1 team in its dial, bezel, and accents on its pushers. The tachymetric scale on the bezel is graduated from 400 kph to 60 kph and the dial features a 10-hour chronograph with a totalizer at 6 o’clock. The running seconds are located at 3 o’clock and the chrono 30-minute totalizer is located at 9 o’clock. A small and discreet date aperture is located at 4 o’clock. The dial features applied Arabic numerals throughout with superluminova.
Underneath the hood a quartz movement powers the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition. We would’ve liked this watch much more had it been powered by a mechanical movement. Not sure why TAG Heuer decided to go with a quartz movement for this particular watch. The movement is protected by a special ‘Red Bull Racing’ engraved case back. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters and equipped with a matching stainless steel bracelet with Pilot extension.
On the Wrist & Price
On the wrist, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition wears true to its size and quite nicely. This watch celebrates the partnership between TAG Heuer and Red Bull Racing also featuring a unique packaging that the watch is delivered with. Despite being a special edition watch, there is no limitation and the watch is a regular production piece.
The only downside to this new watch is the quartz movement powering it, especially considering the price point. Had this watch been powered by a mechanical movement, we would’ve been all over it. Nevertheless, a nice watch to have on your wrist as you continue to celebrate Checo Perez's victory at Monaco.
