Taking inspiration from the Lamborghini Huracan, the watchmakers at Roger Dubuis have developed a few incredible timepieces brimming with racing design codes from this partnership. The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán Black DLC Titanium with a 45mm case and its calibre RD630 with its 12-degree inclined balance wheel features a strut-bar-designed bridge recalling the ones of the V10 engine of the Lamborghini Huracán supercar.
Things to Know About the Watch
Taking strong visual cues from the shapes on which the supercar is based, this timepiece notably gives pride of place to the hexagon. A versatile geometrical figure used to construct the volume of the supercar, it appears throughout the timepiece in various guises and is notably reproduced to symbolize strut bars. The stand-out half hexagon appearing on the louvered air intakes of the Lamborghini Huracán are repeated as miniature versions visible through the openwork dial of the Excalibur Spider Huracán Black DLC Titanium.
The 45 mm Black DLC titanium case features a titanium container with blue rubber inlays Black DLC titanium bezel with lacquered markings and black DLC titanium crown with lacquered ring in blue.
The skeletonized dial with blue lower flange and rhodium plated upper flange features rhodium plated indexes filled with white luminous SLN, 18K black PVD coated gold hands with blue transfers and white luminous SLN tips. The seconds hand is in blue varnished aluminum and the date is displayed at 6 o’clock in a very discreet way —too discreet in our opinion that is even hard to read.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán is equipped with a bi-material strap with a black rubber base and grey Alcantara inlay with blue contrast stitching and a titanium black DLC adjustable folding clasp.
The Movement
Visible via the display case back much like the engine in the Lamborghini Huracán, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán Black DLC Titanium 45mm is powered by the automatic calibre RD630 composed of 233 components and 29 jewels.
The calibre RD630 was developed specifically for the partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse and its structure was designed like a supercar engine with strut bars forming a clear and visible visual signature on the front side and the rotor designed like a Lamborghini wheel rim. The calibre is built with a twin-barrel power supply allowing it to reach a power reserve of 60 hours and with a 12-degree inclined balance wheel.
