Endowed with all the aesthetic codes and horological content of the Duomètre collection, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time ref. 6062520 asserts its personality by embracing a rare decorative technique. Traveling with such a creation on the wrist epitomizes an authentic art of living. Jaeger-LeCoultre has chosen to endow this new creation with a finely chiseled dial. This subtly textured watch face represents the distinctive, individualized and ‘touch of madness’ characterizing the Duomètre Unique Travel Time.
The Dial & Case
Fitted with a finely chiseled dial that embodies the elegance of an exquisitely hand-crafted skill, the watch features a case made of 18K rose gold —also available in 18K white gold— measuring 42 mm in diameter and 13.7 mm in thickness.
The globe and the hour for the second time zone are easily adjusted thanks to the pushers located on the left caseband while the crown serves to wind the two barrels. Turning it counter-clockwise winds the timekeeping barrel, while a clockwise rotation winds the travel time-zone barrel. Once the basic setting has been made, adjustment is purely intuitive.
The first watch to combine user-friendly access to the world's time zones with flexible setting of the time in the destination zone to the nearest minute. This timepiece capitalizes on the "Dual Wing" concept, thus avoiding any loss of precision. It displays the reference time together with the time in a second time zone, indicated digitally thanks to a jumping hour disc with the minutes indicated by a hand. A globe at 6 o'clock shows the time zones of the planet with a subtle day/night indicator. The fine chiseled dial with each tiny bump or ridge bears the imprint of the master artisan who has lavished such dexterity on creating it. This distinctive technique belongs to the art of hand engraving. It consists in removing material by performing movements in all directions using a special graver, so as to create an astonishing, finely granular and shiny surface.
The Movement
The beating heart inside this timepiece is the Jaeger-LeCoultre manual wound movement calibre 383 an object of refined finishes, including hand-bevelled german silver bridges and the exclusive “côtes soleillées” developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Composed of 498 parts, 54 jewels and 2 barrels, the movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph to provide a power reserve of 50 hours. Additionally, on the case back, the Duomètre Unique Travel Time features engraved names of the cities corresponding to the 24 time zones.
