The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Wall Clock is the ultimate watch goody and one of the most coveted clocks out there. Released by AP as a super-sized version of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar ref. 26574 in stainless steel with a silvered dial, this amazing clock features a stainless steel case measuring 16 inches —40 centimeters— in diameter and 3.5 inches —8.9 centimeters— in thickness. This clock also features a very complex quartz mechanism that controls all the perpetual calendar indications as well as a secondary mechanism that controls the time-keeping function. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Wall Clock is pretty much identical —minus the winding crown— to the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar wristwatch.
This wall clock features a 'Grande Tapisserie' dial that increases the overall aesthetics, balance, and legibility of the perpetual calendar indications. The layout of the dial is just like the one on the watch including the subdial for the month with leap year indication, the day of the week, the date, and a highly detailed moon phase indicator almost identical to the one on the wristwatch with the exception that this one is not made out of aventurine. Lastly, the 52 weeks of the year are indicated by an outer chapter ring with a corresponding central hand.
The black lettering along with the red '31' and the realistic disc for the moon phase, make this perpetual calendar clock extremely modern but very classic at the same time. A perfect objet d’art that will absolutely enhance any space as the most incredible and coveted touch of decor.
Turning the clock over reveals a solid sandblasted plate with two removable lids. One covers the battery compartment —for six AA batteries— and the knob to adjust the hands for the time-keeping function, and the other lid covers the movement with a digital screen where one sets the perpetual calendar. All it takes is to enter the full date and the time on the display, and then all the perpetual indications are automatically set by the mechanism on the dial side one by one. The only downside of this clock is that batteries last only about three months and it takes some time to go through the process of resetting the perpetual calendar every time you have to replace them.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Wall Clock is not available for sale from Audemars Piguet and is only available as a special token of appreciation given by AP to their VIP clients and friends of the brand. As far as we know, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Wall Clock only comes with this silvery white dial.
