About a month ago, Audemars Piguet released the new lacquered dials on the Audemars Piguet CODE 11.59 as well as the new CODE 11.59 Two-Tone references. A very controversial watch at the time of its launch and a watch that has drastically grown on us thanks to the release of these new smoked lacquered dials. Audemars Piguet hit an absolute home run with the new dials and new two-tone models. After perusing all watches in the metal with the exception of the purple dial one which was not available, we were blown away by them. While we didn’t like the CODE 11.59 Chronographs at the time of their launch but these new smoked lacquered dials bring a level of complexity that makes the watch much more appealing.
The dials’ elegant colors complement the CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet’s contemporary architecture and refined decoration. Designed for both men and women, this collection also features an optimum curved ergonomics, making it comfortable for all to wear despite its 41 mm in diameter. As far as the new lacquered dials, these come in burgundy, smoked grey, blue and purple.
Portraying refinement and intensity, the sunburst smoked burgundy lacquered dial’s red shades, and rich nuances illuminate the 18K carat white gold case. The dial is complemented with 18K white gold hands and applied hour-markers. Sun and ocean meet in the 18K pink gold model with a smoked blue lacquered dial. The dial’s sunburst effect recalls underwater sun rays. Meanwhile the smoked grey is extremely elegant and mysterious with its black inner bezel providing much depth and intensity.
The Chronograph models are powered by the Audemars Piguet in-house calibre 4401 —an integrated chronograph with column wheel and flyback function that enables restart of the chronograph without stopping and resetting it first. The Time and Date models are powered by the in-house Audemars Piguet automatic calibre 4302 with a 70-hour power reserve.
Overall, the new CODE 11.59 with smoked lacquered dials wear nicely on the wrist and true to their 41 mm case size. While all new dials are extremely nice, the blue and burgundy are pure fire.
