The JEANRICHARD Terrascope ref. 60500-10-702-FK4A released earlier this year during Baselworld 2014, is as colorful as any luxurious timepiece gets. This is not a bumble bee, nor a volcano —perhaps some of the most colorful timepieces out there—, this is a beautifully finished timepiece that might be perceived as too loud and bright by a few, but for others quite fun and unique looking. The new JEANRICHARD Terrascope Aluminum features an ultra colorful aluminum case —not as light as many would imagine weighing 108 grams— in blue, red and green measuring 44 mm in diameter with the unmistakeable vertical satin brushed finish of the JEANRICHARD collections. Literally, a perfect interpretation of the three primary colors, all rounded up by a beautiful white dial with blued applied markers with orange luminescent material and a blue rubber strap.
Its dial referred to as matte white by JEANRICHARD is in reality a semi-glossy dial with applied blue PVD-coated indexes with additional orange luminescent dot and blue PVD-coated hands with orange luminescent material. Perhaps the most unique combination of colors and finishes in just one watch. The seconds hand with its arrow end in red provides perfect contrast against the ultra white bright background of the dial. A flange with minute scale adds a touch of complexity to this timepiece where 'less is more' is not necessarily the best way to describe it.
The vertical satin brushed finish on its case is only comparable with that finish on Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks and Royal Oak Offshores. We are really not exaggerating, this finish is the only one that gets pretty close to the level of Audemars Piguet. As we've said it before, the craftsmanship is exceptional and one of the key characteristics of the JEANRICHARD watches across the Terrascope, Aquascope and Aeroscope collections. As you can see in the pictures, the tripartite construction of the watch case is even more apparent thanks to its playful color scheme that allows for clear view of all different parts and layers.
Equipped with a texturized blue rubber strap with the JR relief markings on each end, the Terrascope Aluminum is very sporty looking and ready to take on water activities. The color scheme of this watch makes it the perfect summer watch for extravagant watchlifestylers. Its comfortable rubber strap is fitted with a deployant buckle. The strap is somewhat short but very nicely finished and extremely soft.
The beating heart inside this watch is the automatic calibre JR60 with 26 jewels and which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph while providing a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is protected by a black solid case back with JEANRICHARD markings and is water resistant to a depth of a 100 meters. Our apologies for the 'not for sale' sticker on the case back but sometimes prototypes or press samples are labeled as such.
On the wrist, the watch wears very comfortably and true to its size. Its cushion shaped case is sporty yet elegant at the same time. This ultra sporty and casual looking watch is the perfect companion for a round of golf or a tennis match under the bright and warm weather at the St. Regis Punta Mita.
