In 2012, The Bird Repeater featured two blue tits and their young birds close to the heart of the company’s founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz. This remarkable model reaffirmed the virtuoso expertise of Jaquet Droz, passed down from the 18th century and realized here in miniature. The following year, The Charming Bird watch marked the brand’s 275th anniversary with a new interpretation of the bird in an ultra-modern decorative setting and this time singing. Now, during Baselworld 2016, another new version makes its appearance, the new Jaquet Droz Charming Bird Métiers d'Art available in red or white gold in a 47 mm case.
This new Métiers d'Art model features a more streamlined, contemporary-looking model that has nonetheless retained intact the animated features that made it a success with a beautiful singing bird automaton movement.
The new Jaquet Droz Charming Bird Métiers d'Art is powered by a manual wound calibre with push-button automaton triggering mechanism.
The sapphire whistle system is fully visible via the domed sapphire crystal and heard through the openings on the side of the case.
The watch is powered by the Jaquet Droz manual wound calibre TCB fitted with 44 jewels and a a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound. The movement is exquisitely decorated and its fully visible via the display case back. The Jaquet Droz Charming Bird is exclusively available in a limited edition of 8 pieces.
On the wrist, the watch wears much bigger than a 47 mm watch due to its ultra thick profile. The watch sits high on the wrist as the highly sophisticated automaton and whistle movement inside need plenty of case room to fit in. The wrist presence is simply out of this world and the sound from its whistling charming bird just fascinating.
