Insider: Carl F. Bucherer Manero Power Reserve Rose Gold. Elegant, Classic and Very Well Crafted for the Price.

Carl F. Bucherer founded in Lucerne since 1888, as a modest Swiss family business has grown into the internationally renowned Bucherer brand with its own worldwide chain of stores and it remains a family-owned business since then. Their watches and their movements are developed and manufactured in the company’s own workshops in Switzerland and all very reasonably priced for the caliber of watch that you get. This time we are talking about the elegant Manero Power Reserve in 18K rose gold ref. 10912.08. This elegant timepiece also available in stainless steel is exquisitely finished with a 42.5 mm 18K rose gold case and a beautiful sunburst silvered dial featuring a recessed power reserve indicator at 3, a big double date aperture at 11, day of the week at 9 and subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock.

The beautiful silvered dial features rose gold arrow-shaped faceted applied markers with adjacent luminous dots, minute rail track in black and dauphine hands with luminescent material. As you can appreciate in the pictures, the finish of the dial is superb and its design well balanced regardless of the many elements in it. In all its splendor the dial is a real treat for the eyes. Furthermore, Carl F. Bucherer added a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides to guarantee uncompromised visibility avoiding any unnecessary glare or reflections.

The 18K rose gold case is delicately finished with a satin-brushed finish and a nice highly polished bezel that provides excellent contrast and perfect light refraction. The lugs feature beautifully finished chamfers that are extremely nicely done and that slightly resemble those  on vintage Rolex cases and Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks. The screw-down winding crown is highly polished with the Carl F. Bucherer logo in bas-relief rounding out the overall design of the case.

The beating heart inside the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Power Reserve is the in-house manual-wound calibre CFB A1000 with 33 jewels and which provides a power reserve of 48 hours when fully wound. The beautifully decorated calibre is fully visible via the display case back. One of the highlights in this movement are the polished heptagonal screws on the rachet wheel, crown wheel and on the bridge that supports the balance wheel. Additionally, the multilevel bridges on this movement are very sleek, angular and with an alternating satin-brushed and bead-blasted finish.

On the wrist, the watch wears true to its size and quite comfortably. The watch is fitted with an elegant hand-stitched brown Louisiana alligator strap with pin buckle also in 18K rose gold. Ideally, this watch would've looked better on a deployant buckle to bring it up a notch. Based on the quality in the craftsmanship of this watch and the relatively inexpensive sticker price, we feel that Carl F. Bucherer offers a great value for your money. Keep in mind that this is a Swiss made complication in precious metal with an in-house calibre and a great name behind. Frankly, what else could you ask for at this price level?
