Introducing: Atelier FVF Genève FVF2 Time & Day Intrepido. Franc Vila Releases his Second Watch as FVF.

Franc Vila is a very familiar name if you know anything about independent watchmakers from the last two decades. After selling his namesake brand Franc Vila, the Spaniard watchmaker returns with his second watch under the new Atelier FVF Genève. Following the release of the FVF1 Superligero Tourbillon, now comes the new FVF2 Time & Day Intrepido where he blends in timeless elegance and a dynamic soul. A man blessed with a very creative mind, Franc Vila himself is a character and one of the most intriguing personas in the Swiss watch industry and one that we consider a close friend.

A contemporary expression of dynamic elegance to introduce their new Intrepido collection. With the FVF2 Time & Day, Atelier FVF Genève embarks on a transformative journey. This timepiece is a harmonious fusion of classic elegance and modern innovation, a tribute to Franc Vila's visionary design ethos. Beyond a simple watch, the FVF2 is a statement of timeless artistry and technical mastery.

The new FVF2 represents the dress watch with a bold yet understated approach. It combines a lightweight titanium strong unibody construction with a sleek, neo-classical aesthetic, creating a timepiece that is as elegant as it is innovative. The aesthetic pays homage to the past while embracing contemporary technical expertise and design codes.

The design of the watch is inspired by the sophisticated chronometers of traditional Geneva watchmaking. The round unibody structure: plate acting as middle case, features screwed in, subtly asymmetrical lugs, with the crown and pusher on the left. The Unibody structure, bezel, back, and lugs are crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a lightweight, very rigid, and highly corrosion-resistant alloy, ideal for a reliable, contemporary watch.

To inaugurate the release of the FVF2, two watches are presented: one with a black dial and the second one in a special edition limited to eight pieces, which will feature a light blue dial and a platinum bezel. The case measures 39.5 mm in diameter with a thickness of 9.75 mm.

The dial of the new Atelier FVF Genève FVF2 Time & Day Intrepido draws inspiration from the historic sector dial, featuring an innovative dual-layer construction with a grade 5 titanium base, topped by an 18K gold dial. The dial is then carved to create the elevated indexes, finished and polished. It displays the hours, minutes, and seconds, as well as the retrograde day of the week display —with the initial of the day of the week in Spanish language—, combining technical sophistication with modern aesthetics.

The unibody case construction utilizes the movement’s base plate in grade 5 titanium as part of the case. The unibody structure, bezel, back, and lugs are crafted from grade 5 titanium, a lightweight, very rigid, and highly corrosion-resistant alloy, ideal for a reliable, contemporary watch.

The reverse of the Atelier FVF Genève FVF2 Time & Day Intrepido reveals the new in-house manual wound FVF2 calibre, which features a sharp design and hand decoration with different finishes, including the forceful bridges, and click barrel in highly demanding mirror finish steel.

The 247-part movement is equipped with 28 jewels and a 15-tooth Swiss lever escapement with adjustable mass balance, with 4 regulation screws and 8 inertial screws, and is shock-resistant with Geneva stud. This manual wound movement provides a power reserve of 80 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 21,600 vph.

All the bridges are hand engraved in stainless steel and German silver. The movement is intricately finished including polished inward angles, black polishing by hand, manual circular graining, micro-sandblasting, all hand-engraved inscriptions, satin-brushed-finishing and colimaçonnage —spiral decoration— of the barrel.

Sticker Price CHF 85,000 Swiss Francs—approx USD 93,000— for titanium with black dial and CHF 90,000 Swiss Francs—approx USD 99,000— for blue special edition titanium with platinum bezel. For more info on Atelier FVF Genève click here.
