SIHH 2016: Presenting the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar. Hands-on Live Pictures & Pricing.

Here we are bringing you more news about all the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas models released at the SIHH 2016 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève. This time, we bring you our hands-on live pictures and details on the brand new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar with its calibre 1120QP. Fitted with an 18K white gold case measuring 41.5 mm in diameter, this new perpetual calendar is simply out of this world when it comes to its looks. The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-thin Perpetual Calendar from SIHH 2016 displays all calendar functions on a stunning sunburst grey dial with blue and white accents. The biggest downside in our opinion is how the months and leap year information where grouped in one register making it quite busy and really difficult to read.

When you pay close attention to the indicator at 12 o'clock, you'll notice that January, April, July and October —beginning of each trimester— are repeated four times to mark each year cycle and then for the leap year, those months are marked in blue. In our opinion, it makes the month and year indicator extremely busy and hard to read. Especially when taking a quick glimpse at the dial.

Beating at a frequency of 19,800 vph and endowed with an approximately 40-hour power reserve, the new calibre 1120QP accurately indicates the time, the day of the week at 9 o'clock, the date at 3, the month and leap-year indications at 12 and the moon phases at 6 o'clock. The flange includes a nice and clean minute track in white with blue numerals for each 5-minute increment.

The new automatic calibre Vacheron Constantin 1120 QP, calls for impressive feats of miniaturization in order to adjust to calendar irregularities while requiring no adjustment until the year 2100, as well as to accommodate its 276 components and 36 jewels within a space barely 4.05 mm thick. Fully visible via the sapphire crystal display case back, one can see the 22K oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose and subtle finishes.

This new reference is fitted with an interchangeable white gold bracelet complete with easy-fit system and complemented by two leather and rubber variations, both secured by a white gold buckle.

On the wrist, the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar wears true to its actual size and extremely elegant and sporty at the same time. Its color scheme allows for a perfect match with any outfit and its grey dial is arguably, one of the best dials ever made by the 'Holy Trinity of Watchmaking'. If one could only have three iconic sports perpetual calendars from the best watchmakers in the world, this would be one of them for sure.
