Baselworld 2016: Presenting the New Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Plasma Gray Ceramic Case and Deep Blue Dial. Hands-on Review, Live Pictures & Pricing.

Reporting live from Baselworld 2016, we bring your our hands-on review and live pictures of one of the most beautiful sports watches we've seen so far at the show. Blancpain’s three-hand version of the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe appears for the first time in a plasma gray ceramic case with a striking deep blue dial. Blancpain has re-interpreted one of its core timepieces, the three-hand model of the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, outfitting it with a deep blue dial evoking the depths of the sea.

Adding to its allure, the plasma gray ceramic bezel has been equipped with a blue ceramic insert featuring Liquidmetal hour- markers, an alloy serving to avoid distortions. The dial is definitely one of the best looking blue dials out there. The contrast against the case that has a similar hue to that on titanium is simply perfect.

The 43.6 mm x 13.83 mm case highlights the technology involved in creating gray plasma ceramic, a production method that gives the color a subtle metallic shade. Plasma gray ceramic was used for the Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback Ocean Commitment that was launched in 2014.

The presence of a luminous index located on the bezel, serving to enhance readability during dives, is faithful to the original version of the Bathyscaphe. The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Plasma Gray Ceramic case is water-resistant to 300 meters.

The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is powered by the automatic calibre 1315, distinguished by its sturdiness and its exceptional chronometric performance. Representing an authentic technological feat, its three series-coupled mainspring barrels ensure a generous 120-hour power reserve while guaranteeing a constant supply of energy. This movement is visible through the clear sapphire caseback which allows the owner to admire its modern and technical aspects.Conceived for sports watches, the 1315 caliber is fitted with a robust glucydur balance wheel, with square-head gold micrometric regulating screws guaranteeing precision as well as efficient adjustment.

This new timepiece from Blancpain is offered with two strap options: a three-ring NATO strap or a sail canvas version with pin buckle pictured below.

On the wrist, the Baselworld 2016 new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Plasma Gray Ceramic Case and Deep Blue Dial wears true to its size and quite nicely.
