Experience: Vacheron Constantin 'The Anatomy of Beauty' Event in Beverly Hills. Exquisite to Say the Least.
Last Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, we attended a very special event in Beverly Hills with Vacheron Constantin. The event named ‘The Anatomy of Beauty’ was hosted at a private estate —that looked just like a villa in the middle of Tuscany— in Beverly Hills. During the star-studded event, Vacheron Constantin unveiled a special film that was co-produced with director, producer, and cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg, the man behind the recent Netflix documentary ‘Fantastic Fungi’.
The day before the event, we checked in into the Waldorf Astoria. Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, this hotel is as posh as it gets with excellent service, incredible dine-in options by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and a sick rooftop and pool.
On our first night in Beverly Hills, we attended a very intimate dinner hosted by Vacheron Constantin. This dinner took place at The Little Door —a Parisian-style brasserie— where we had the pleasure to spend some quality time with Alexander Schmiedt —President of Vacheron Constantin Americas—, other members of the press, a handful of top executives from the brand, and Corey Richards —photographer, explorer, and friend of the brand.
Then, on our second day in Beverly Hills and before the event took place that evening, we attended a watchmaking Master Class at the Vacheron Constantin Boutique located on Rodeo Drive. The class was led by master watchmaker Morgan Maillard who’s typically working behind the bench at the Vacheron Constantin Flagship in New York City.
After our master class —which we passed with honors— we spent some time with some special watches at the boutique to then headed over to a delicious lunch at California-inspired contemporary Italian restaurant Tommy’s in Beverly Hills.
'The Anatomy of Beauty' event began with an elegant cocktail hour, offering guests an exclusive preview of the Maison’s new Overseas Skeleton timepieces and an intimate look inside their hand-finished master watchmaking. The cocktail hour also incorporated a surprise dance performance choreographed by visionary artist, Sara Silkin. Celebrity guests included Dakota Johnson, Chris Paul, Riley Keough, Nicole Richie, D-Nice and Kate Mara among others. All images of celebrities courtesy of Getty Images.
Passed hors d'ouvres, exquisite cocktails and perfect weather were key elements of this perfectly orchestrated event in good old-fashioned Vacheron Constantin style.
The film, featuring Schwartzberg’s critically acclaimed time-lapse cinematography, honors the parallels between the beauty found within nature and the beauty found in the details of the Maison’s intricate watchmaking processes. Through the project, the attention, dedication, and passion that Vacheron Constantin imbues in the minutest of details are delicately revealed through the lens of a camera. The entire composition of a watch movement, although mechanical, appears organic and filled with life as it operates — as lively as the meticulous work of nature which builds the openwork lace architecture of the ocean’s coral, or of the earth’s water waves as depicted in the film. Another incredible event in the company of one of our favorite watch brands.
