SIHH 2019: Ulysse Nardin Freak X. Live Pictures & Pricing.
The Ulysse Nardin Freak X is now the point of entry into the Freak collection as it was just presented at the SIHH 2019. Though many of the same aesthetic and functional elements are in place, the Freak X pushes out into uncharted territory. With a case measuring 43mm instead of 45mm, the watch is less bulky and more legible. Unlike its predecessor the Freak, the Freak X is equipped with a crown for setting the time instead of the use of the bezel to correct the time. The new watch is available in four different iterations that include a titanium model, a titanium black DLC, carbonium —forged carbon— and a 5N rose gold model, all of them with a black DLC titanium case core that extends from the middle case all the way to the center of the lugs. All four watches are also delivered on ‘point bridge’ alligator straps with deployant double folding buckle.
Things to Know About the Watch
The “baguette” movement is still a carousel, turning once on itself every hour to indicate the time. It is simpler, bolder, and has fewer wheels. It has no dial and no hands and the central bridge acts as a minute hand and one of the wheels indicates the hours.
Inside and clearly visible beats one of the Freak Vision’s most outstanding innovations: a super-light balance wheel in silicium, extra-wide, with nickel flyweights and stabilizing micro-blades. The movement itself, the new UN-230, is a fusion of the manufacture calibers UN-118 and Freak Vision UN-250. The case, nicely rounded with curved lines, is wholly new, and seriously transformative.
All four watches are delivered on a rubber strap with vented perforations and equipped with a deployant double folding clasp in titanium or pink gold respectively.
On the Wrist & Pricing
On the wrist, the new Ulysse Nardin Freak X feels up to par with its sibling the Freak Automatic. In terms of size the watch wears more like a 42 mm watch on a 7.5” wrist. The watches are very nice and very comfortable and absolutely reminiscent of the Freak.
Sticker Price $21,000 USD —either titanium model—, $24,000 USD Carbonium and $30,000 USD in 5N pink gold. For more info click here.
