SIHH 2018: Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Complete Calendar ref. 4000E. Live Pictures & Pricing.

The new Vacheron Constantin collection inspired by the iconic reference 6073 —launched in 1956— is by far one of our favorite watch releases at the SIHH 2018. Available in stainless steel or 18K 5N pink gold, the three new watches have been very well received by the press community, authorized dealers and our readers. Last week, we brought you the live pictures on the new FiftySix Self-Winding here and the FiftySix Day-Date Power Reserve here; well, today, we bring you our live pictures of our second favorite watch within this new collection. The FiftySix Complete Calendar ref. 4000E with moonphase indicator. With an extremely well balanced dial thanks to its double apertures at 12 and a gorgeous moonphase indicator at six o'clock, this is without a doubt, one of the best looking Vacheron Constantin watches out there.

With a box-type sapphire crystal that rises above the bezel, sector type dial, superluminova on hands and markers and automatic movement, this is the very first time in its history, that Vacheron Constantin is offering a classic collection in stainless steel. Here are the reference numbers for each model: Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Complete Calendar in 18K pink gold ref. 4000E/000R-B438 and in stainless steel ref. 4000E/000A-B439

About the New Watch

Featuring a 40 mm case in diameter, display case back and delivered on alligator strap —either black or brown depending on the metal— with half Maltese cross shaped pin buckles in their respective metals, this new watch is simply one of the best complete calendars money can buy.

The sector dial on this new watch is a stunner and it comes with applied 18K gold numerals and markers with superluminova. Vacheron Constantin decided to not cut any corners and the stainless steel model is also equipped with applied markers and numerals in 18K white gold. The date pointer hand is skeletonized at the tip to maintain a more classical look.

Featuring double side-by-side apertures for the day of the week and the month at 12 o'clock, this watch doesn't get any more vintage looking. A prominent moonphase indicator at 6 o'clock with a blue disc adds the perfect amount of color to this very monochromatic looking dial.

The Movement

As an homage to the automatic movement of the 6073, the Vacheron Constatin FiftySix Complete Calendar is powered by the Vacheron Constantin calibre 2460QCL/1. This movement composed of 308 parts with 27 jewels, provides a power reserve of 40 hours when fully wound. Just like the other two new FiftySix models, the movement is fully visible via the display case back and it features the new 22K openworked rotor bearing a Maltese Cross applique.

On the Wrist & Pricing

On the wrist, the new FiftySix Complete Calendar wears slightly bigger than its actual size and more like a 41 mm watch. This new FiftySix collection is one that we will talk a lot as it gives you a lot of bang for your buck. A great retro-contemporary looking watch that will give your wrist enough sophistication to make you look like you've made it in life. While we love both watches, we think that from a value standpoint, the stainless steel model is the way to go.

Sticker Price $21,600 USD in Stainless Steel and $35,800 USD in 18K 5N Pink Gold. For more info on Vacheron Constantin click here.
