SIHH 2017: New Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date Sector Dial. Hands-on Live Pictures & Pricing.

One of our favorite releases at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève SIHH 2017 were the three new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control models with sector two-tone dials. In addition to their gorgeous sector two-tone dials, the watches come with a price point that will be hard to beat by many other brands for this level of watch. he three new stainless steel models include the Master Control Date with time/date, Master Control Geographic with worldtimer complication and the Master Control Chronograph. On this post, we will be talking about the Master Control Date ref. 1548530, since we've alreadyfeatured the Master Control Chronograph here.

The Dial & Case

Fitted with one of the most gorgeous sector dials out there, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date is vintage-inspired and reminiscent of all those legendary sector dial watches from a past era. The dial features an opaline center and silvered brushed outer ring with black sector markers.

The dial is extremely clean and well balanced with date aperture at 3 o'clock with blue calendar font, blue accents, sector hour markers, skeletonized blue hands and blue transfers on the outer minute track. Fitted with a highly polished stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and 8.5 mm in thickness, this watch is simply perfectly sized almost for everyone.

The Movement

The new Master Control Date is powered by the JLC automatic in-house calibre 899/1 composed of 219 parts and 32 jewels. This extremely thin movement measuring 3.30 mm in thickness, provides a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph —4 Hz. The movement is very nicely finished, regardless that this is an entry level watch for the brand and equipped with a very nice JLC skeletonized oscillating weight.

On the Wrist & Pricing

For the money, it really doesn't get any better. There are many watches you can buy under $6,000 USD, but not many that would deliver this level of quality, pedigree and craftsmanship.
