SIHH 2017: New Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Tourbillon Universal Time. Hands-on Live Pictures & Pricing.
A little over a week ago we brought you the news on the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Tourbillon Universal Time. Now, we bring you or hands-on live pictures of one of the most impressive watches recently released by JLC. Created in 1958 by Jaeger-LeCoultre in honor of the International Geophysical Year, JLC launched the Geophysic collection in 2015 and now added this exceptional timepiece to the mix. Fitted with a case in platinum measuring 43.5 mm in diameter, the watch is not ultra heavy as expected from a platinum watch. Regardless of the addition of the tourbillon to the dial at 3 o'clock, the dial remains easily legible. This watch just released at the SIHH 2017 is the world's first worldtimer with flying tourbillon. Below, next to the Geophysic Universal Time in 18K rose gold.
The Dial
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Tourbillon Universal Time is fitted with a stunning dial that features a planisphere where the sea is depicted with subtly graded lacquered shades of blue, while the engraved continents are graced with a magnificent sunburst finish and a relief that is out of this world.
The compelling Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time enables simultaneous readings of the time in all 24 time zones by means of its mobile disc. The city disc with its perfectly readable names is fixed with the outer 24-hour ring being the one that rotates through the day. The flying tourbillon with its mesmerizing rotation every 60 seconds is located at 3 o'clock.
The Movement
The new JLC Geophysic Tourbillon Universal Time is powered by the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 948 —an automatic movement composed of 375 parts and 42 jewels that provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The movement is of course fully visible via the display case back.
On the Wrist & Pricing
On the wrist, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Tourbillon Universal Time wears true to its size and with immaculate wrist presence. Easy to use, elegant and classic, it really doesn't much better than this now equipped with a flying tourbillon. The watch is fitted with a black alligator strap with dark blue contrast stitching and equipped with a pin buckle in 18K white gold. The watch is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
