SIHH 2017: Cartier Drive de Cartier Moon Phases. Hands-on Live Pictures & Pricing.
This year, Cartier has added two new models to the Drive de Cartier collection that was released in 2016. A watch designed to be worn on every occasion and as classic and timeless to go with a pair of jeans or with a suit and tie, the Drive the Cartier is now available with Moon Phases —in 18K pink gold or stainless steel— or in an Extra-Flat reference —also in 18K pink gold or stainless steel. The new SIHH 2017 Drive de Cartier Moon Phases stays true to the wearability design premise that gave birth to this collection.
With its cushion-shaped case, octagonal crown with blue sapphire cabochon, curved sapphire crystal and silvered guilloché dial with black Roman numerals, this new watch is as attractive in gold as it is in stainless steel. Fitted with a case measuring 40 mm x 41 mm the Drive de Cartier Moon Phases is delivered on a brown alligator strap with folding clasp in 18K pink gold for the pink gold ref. WGNM0008 and on a black alligator strap with stainless steel folding clasp for the stainless steel ref. WSNM0008.
The Dial
This watch is fitted a gorgeous silvered dial with guilloché center and black Arabic numerals, a very distinctive feature of Cartier watches. With its moon phase indicator at 6 o'clock one can track the cycle of the moon with extraordinary precision. The moon phase needs to be corrected by one day every 125 years.
The Movement
The new Drive de Cartier Moon Phases is powered by the automatic Cartier in-house calibre 1904-LU MC. This 25-jewel movement was fully designed and developed by Cartier. The movement provides a power reserve of 48 hours when fully wound and is fully visible via the display case back.
On the Wrist & Pricing
On the wrist, the new Cartier Drive de Cartier Moon Phases wears true to its size with unparalleled elegance. Whether you decide to wear the watch with casual clothes or with a more formal outfit, this new watch doesn't disappoint at all. Perhaps the only thing we would've liked to have on this watch to make it even better is a date function, but other than that, for the money —especially when it comes to the stainless steel version—, you just can't go wrong.
Sticker Price $7,850 USD for stainless steel and $21,200 USD for 18K pink gold. For more info on Cartier click here.
