SIHH 2016: Presenting the new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin. Hands-on Live Pictures & Pricing.
Here's the sixth of the seven new watches launched by A. Lange & Söhne at the SIHH 2016 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève. The new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin with a new face. The Saxonia Thin distills the characteristic features of a Lange watch in svelte proportions. With a newly designed dial and case, the so far thinnest timepiece from the eminent Saxon watchmakers stands out with even more stunning looks. In 2011, A. Lange & Söhne presented the Saxonia Thin for the first time. Five years after its debut, the low-profile time-only watch appears with a subtly redesigned dial that reflects the minimalist and purist facets of style. Available in 18K white gold ref. 211.027 or 18K rose gold ref. 211.033, the new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin is pure perfection.
Compared with its predecessor, the solid-gold baton hour markers have been slightly elongated and shifted closer to the bezel. The retouched, silvered dial in solid silver radiates harmony and balance.
The new edition of the Saxonia Thin features a 40 mm case with a thickness of only 5.9 mm. The case is satin-brushed finished with a mirror polished bezel.
The new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin is powered by the manual wound in-house calibre L093.1 that is only 2.9 mm thick. A real ultra-thin movement that highlights the classic design elements of each Lange watch, such as the three-quarter plate made of German silver and the hand-engraved balance cock, lavishly polished and decorated. The movement is composed of 167 parts and 21 jewels —3 of them in gold chatons. While beating at a frequency of 21,600 vph, the movement provides a power reserve of 3 days —72 hours— when fully wound.
Equipped with a hand-stitched alligator leather strap in black for the 18K white gold model or brown for the 18K rose gold one, the watch wears extremely comfortably, true to its size and with superb elegance. The straps are fitted with Lange pin buckles in matching metal.
