W&W 2024: Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Petite Seconde in Rose Gold and in Platinum (Live Pics)
One of our favorite watches at Watches & Wonders 2024 is the new Parmigiani Toric Petite Seconde. The Toric Petite Seconde has been revived with a more contemporary look but still maintaining all the design cues from the original model designed by Michel Parmigiani in 1996 for the launch of the brand. Equipped with manual wound solid gold movements, gold ‘cheve’ dials, gold hands and released in 18K rose gold ref. PFC940-2010001-300181-EN or in .950 platinum ref. PFC940-2010004-300181-EN, the Toric Petite Seconde is a flawless execution that exudes ‘haute horlogerie’ all the way. While the 18K rose gold model is fitted with a sand colored dial, the platinum counterpart features a grey celadon dial that looks almost like a very faint mint green.
Things to Know About the Watch
Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Petite Seconde is equipped with a case measuring 40.6 mm in diameter and 8.8 mm in thickness and ARunic anti-reflective sapphire crystals on front and back. The knurled bezel is one of the signature elements of the brand and part of the new Toric timeless design. The solid gold dial is hand-grained finished and is beveled with a slight curvature towards the edge of the case. The dial features applied markers and a running seconds indicator at 6 o’clock. The watch is equipped with a screw down crown guaranteeing a water resistance of 30 meters.
The strap is one of our favorite elements in the design of this watch. The straps on the new Toric Petite Seconde are pastel shade alligator straps with a nubuck finish that creates a beautiful disruption toning the watch down and making it slightly sportier and casual. The straps are secured by a pin-buckle matching the metal of the case and finished with a double-point stitch called ‘Punto a Mano’ —stitch by hand—that is reminiscent of the sartorial stitching from Neapolitan tailors.
The Movement
The new Toric Petite Seconde watches are powered by the in-house manual wound movement calibre PF780. This 157-part movement with 27 jewels provides a power reserve of 60 hours when fully wound. The movement is exquisitely finished and visible via the sapphire crystal case back.
On the Wrist & Price
On the wrist, the watches wear true to their size and with immaculate wrist presence. Parmigiani Fleurier is at the pinnacle of its time in the industry and the release of these new watches along with the new Toric Chronographe Rattrapante continues to elevate the brand even more.
