Insider: MB&F Horological Machine No. 7 Aquapod Platinum Red. The Sexiest Jellyfish Out There.

The MB&F Horological Machine No. 7 Aquapod was first released in titanium with a blue bezel and in 18K 5N red gold with black bezel back in 2017. A year after, a third version of the watch was presented in titanium but with a gorgeous bright green bezel. Inspired by a jellyfish and the ocean, the MB&F Horological Machine No. 7 conquers the confines of the ocean and plunges into the water. Right on time for the summer this year, a fourth version in platinum with a bright red bezel was added to the mix. The MB&F is available in a limited edition of 50 pieces in grade 5 titanium with green bezel, 33 in titanium with blue bezel, 66 in 18K 5N red gold and 25 pieces in platinum.

Things to Know About the Watch

The MB&F HM7 Aquapod Platinum Red comes from the deepest recesses of the horological ocean, with free-floating numerical appendages and unprecedented transparency surrounding its 60-second flying tourbillon. Unlike previous iterations of the HM7 Aquapod, which indicated the hours and minutes via rotating rings with transferred numerals, the MB&F HM7 Platinum Red features three-dimensional numerals sculpted in titanium. The stems attaching the hour and minute numerals to their respective mounting rings are rendered black with a coating of DLC, completing the ethereal floating effect.

HM7 Platinum Red homes in on this point, replacing the battle-axe tourbillon bridge of previous Aquapod versions with a clear sapphire component. The flying tourbillon of the HM7 engine is revealed like never before, highlighted by a halo of high-luminosity.

The Movement

The automatic 391-component movement of the HM7 Platinum Red was developed entirely in-house at MB&F. Providing a 72-hour power reserve, the movement beats at a frequency of 18,000 vph. Spherically three-dimensional, all its mechanisms —from the winding rotor at the bottom, past the mainspring barrel and hour and minute displays, to the flying tourbillon on top— rotate concentrically around the center. The winding rotor’s tentacles are crafted from a solid block of titanium. Underneath the tentacles, a platinum mass ensures powerful and efficient winding.

On the Wrist & Pricing

On the wrist, the MB&F Horological Machine No. 7 HM7 Aquapod Platinum Red wears really big and high on the wrist but with the most impressive wrist presence thanks to its bright red bezel. Our favorite HM7 Aquapod of all four iterations available. Limited to 25 pieces worldwide.
