Insider: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Green. Is this the New Blue?
Just released a few weeks ago at Watches & Wonders 2021, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds is cloaked in green. A new trend in the watch industry, green has turned into the new blue after almost a dozen watches —from a variety of brands— have been recently launched with this choice of color for their dials. Created in the 1931 by Jaeger-LeCoultre as a convenient watch for polo players, the purpose of the Reverso was to be able to maintain the front of the watch protected during a polo match by virtue of swiveling and exposing a solid case back on the front.
Paying homage to its rich past, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds brings all the DNA and design cues of the colorful Reversos released during the peak of the Art Deco movement. Released with a gorgeous sunburst green dial, this is a watch that is better appreciated in person as the stock imagery —at the time of its release— portrays the hue of green relatively differently.
Things to Know About the Watch
Equipped with a case in stainless steel measuring 45.6 mm x 27.4 mm x 8.5 mm, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Green remains faithful to the original design from 1931 with its signature grooves and angular lugs that have made this watch a true horological icon. As far as the dial, it features all of the signature design elements of the Reverso Tribute including the hours marked by applied indexes with a faceted shape and the signature dauphine hands.
At 6 o’clock, the white circular track of the small seconds display provides a counterpoint to the linear geometry of the dial and case. The green dial with its sunburst brushed finish is a true chameleon that depending on lighting conditions appears lighter or darker.
Mirroring the sunburst brushed finish of the dial, a sunray pattern on the inside of the cradle is visible when the case is flipped over. The verso side of the watch maintains its sterile look so that it can become the perfect canvas for personalization.
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Green is delivered on a matching Casa Fagliano green calf leather strap with a folding clasp in stainless steel. The strap is made of extremely supple calf leather crafted by Casa Fagliano, the most important and renowned polo and saddlery company from Argentina known to collaborate with Jaeger-LeCoultre on a regular basis. The strap is very smooth to the touch and extremely well made.
The beating heart of the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Green ref. Q3978430 is the manual wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822/2 which provides a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound.
