Insider: Presenting the New Hublot Big Bang Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation Special Edition. Hands-on with the 50-Piece Limited Edition in Red Gold.

Last week in Mexico City, Hublot released a handful of new watches that are exclusively available throughout Mexico's finest authorized dealers carrying the brand. The new Hublot Big Bang Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation Special Edition is available in three different materials as follows: 50 pieces in 18K red gold, 100 pieces in stainless steel and 100 pieces in black ceramic. Designed in collaboration with Eduardo Serio —founder of BJWT—, this new watch not only supports a great cause behind it but it also spreads the message of 'loving one another as well as all living beings around us'. For those of you not familiar with the BJWT Foundation, this non-profit with 5.8 million followers on Instagram is fully dedicated to rescue felines as well as other exotic animals that cohabit in three different sanctuaries ran by Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation to then be reinserted into their natural habitats —today, the BJWT Foundation protects a total of 260 felines. During a very special presentation led by Mexican actress and Hublot ambassador Jacky Bracamontes, Mr. Jean-Claude Biver —President of LVMH Watch Division— and Ricardo Guadalupe —CEO of Hublot—, welcomed everyone with very heart felt remarks.

The Dial & Bezel

Fitted with a very nicely finished 44 mm case in 18K red gold, the new Hublot Big Bang Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation Special Edition features a gold and black dial with a tiger head in bas-relief that extends all the way to its satin brushed finished bezel. The tripartite case construction features black resin lateral inserts and six H-shaped screws in 18K yellow gold.

The black and gold dial is extremely well crafted with a matte finish for the black areas and satin brushed finish matching the case for the gold areas. The tiger was done in a positive and negative bas-relief in order to make it discreet but eye catching at the same time. This is one of those watches that you simply like no matter what when you know the inspiring story behind it. Eduardo Serio is a remarkable human being that in a very short period of time —and mainly using his own funds— has now fully dedicated his life to protect these felines —often abused and caged by circuses and other irresponsible owners— and make this world a better place.

The Strap

The new Hublot Big Bang Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation Special Edition in 18K red gold ref. 316.PX. 4110.RX. BJW16 is fitted with a black rubber strap with the ultra comfortable Hublot deployant buckle in matching 18K red gold. The strap, just like the bezel and dial, features tiger stripes in bas-relief right around the area that connects to the case.

The Movement

Nothing too fancy here, but a very reliable automatic movement calibre HUB1401 composed of 175 parts and 23 jewels and which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph to provide a power reserve of 42 hours. The final watches will bear BJWT Foundation's logo on the sapphire crystal protecting the case back. The watch is water resistant to a 100 meters and equipped with a pullout crown.

On the Wrist & Pricing

On the wrist, the new Hublot Big Bang BJWT Foundation Special Edition wears true to its size and quite comfortably. While the stainless steel and black ceramic versions of this new watch are also very nice, without a doubt, the 18K red gold reference is our favorite and the one to acquire.

Sticker Price $34,000 USD for 18K red gold, $16,000 USD ceramic and $12,900 USD for stainless steel. For more info on Hublot click here.
