Insider: Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf Blue. Keeping Track of Your Golfing Score has Never Been this Easy.
Carrying a pencil and a scorecard at the golf course seems to now be a thing of the past when you can just keep track of your score on your wrist. First released in 2018, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf in white texalium was later released in green texalium during Dubai week 2020. Now, we bring you our hands-on review of the latest iteration of the Big Bang Unico Golf in blue texalium, which happens to be one of our favorite models.
Things to Know About the Watch
Featuring a 45 mm case in carbon fiber and blue texalium upper layer, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf Blue is available in a highly exclusive limited edition of only 200 pieces. While many feel that this watch is a little bit too gimmicky, we think that it is ultra-cool and very functional. Equipped with three pushers —two on the side of the crown and one on the left caseband—, the wearer can keep full track of its score, hole-by-hole for all 18 holes.
Three apertures conveniently located around the dial, provide perfect readability of how good or bad your game is going. The number of strokes is indicated by an aperture at 3 o’clock with a bright yellow backdrop, the hole number at 9, and the total score at 6 o’clock.
Keeping your score at the golf course couldn’t be any easier without the hassle of having to write it down. By pressing the pusher at 4 o’clock labeled ‘Hole’, the wearer selects the number for the hole to be played. Then, by pressing the pusher with a yellow insert labeled ‘Shot’ —located at 2 o’clock—, the wearer selects the number of strokes for that particular hole. Lastly, by pressing the round pusher located at 8 o’clock, the wearer resets the total score for the round.
Matching the color of the case, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf is delivered with a perforated navy blue calf strap with a black rubber insert with carbon fiber texture decor and with a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployment clasp. An additional black fabric strap with a black-plated aluminum pin buckle clasp is also included as a second option.
The Movement
Powering the Big Bang Unico Golf Blue is the Hublot in-house movement HUB1580 with a golf mechanism. This 43-jewel automatic movement derived from the HUB1240 features a beautiful skeletonized oscillating weight and when fully wound, it provides a power reserve of 72 hours.
On the Wrist & Price
On the wrist, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf Blue wears true to its size and looks much nicer than its green and off-white/grey counterparts. While the pusher at 8 o’clock could be somewhat bothersome during a round of golf, it’s in reality not that much of a big deal.
While we think that the first iteration of the Big Bang Golf is very appealing with its off-white grey texalium upper layer, the blue takes the first place in terms of looks with the green model coming down last. In the very end, the Big Bang Unico Golf is an absolutely brilliant and clever idea to ease keeping your score at the golf course. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf Blue is available in a limited edition of 200 pieces.
