Experience: Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills. As Thick and Bold as a Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days PAM 372 on the Wrist.
Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers novel, Romeo y Julieta dates back to 1875 when the brand was established. In 1946, during Sir Winston's Churchill visit to Cuba, the brand instantly became his favorite. Afterwards, Romeo y Julieta decided to add Churchill's name to their 'vitolas' in order to describe the brand's most famous size —Churchills— measuring 7" long with a 47 ring gauge. Back in 2006, Romeo y Julieta launched a new 'vitola' under the Churchill name; the 'Short Churchills', a fabulous 'Robusto' that was missing in this brand and then in 2010 during the 'XII Festival del Habano' the 'Wide Churchills' were released with a 55 ring gauge. The Romeo y Julieta 'Wide Churchills' are just as good as the 'Churchills', but packed with more of the goodness that comes from the selected leaves from the 'Vuelta Abajo' region in Cuba in a much thicker cigar.
The Romeo y Julieta 'Wide Churchills' is a Montesco shaped cigar that measures 5.12" in length with a 55 ring gauge. The color of this cigar is medium brown —very common color among 'Vuelta Abajo' cigars— with strong notes of leather and pepper in a yet still very smooth Habano.
This fabulous cigar offers a flavor profile that remains quite even through almost the whole cigar with a minor variation towards the last third of it. Burning time of approximately 45 minutes without too much puffing. This cigar is perfectly rolled but not in a very tight way, therefore, it won't go out even if you are an inexperienced cigar smoker.
The Romeo y Julieta 'Wide Churchills' is a perfect cigar for the most experienced discerning cigar smokers but also perfectly made for those watchlifestylers that are just starting to enjoy some of the small pleasures of the good life. Overall, a well balanced, thick and slightly bold cigar, just like Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days PAM 372 on your wrist.
