Experience: Armin Strom Collectors' Evening in Dallas. Presenting the Resonance Collection.
You all know that here at Watch Collecting Lifestyle we are big fans of independent watchmakers and that Armin Strom is one of those brands we really like. A relatively young company led by an easygoing and approachable team that puts their hearts and souls into their watches, Armin Strom still preserves the DNA left by his founder Armin Strom himself as untouched as possible, while always moving as fast as the watch industry calls for. To present their Resonance collection and the Dual Time Resonance Sapphire watch for the very first time in the U.S., Claude Greisler —Co-Founder and Technical Director Armin Strom— and Jean-Marc Bories —Head of North America Armin Strom— came down to Dallas by way of L.A. after attending the Watch Time event in Cali.
In the usual WCL fashion, what would be of an evening without incredible watches, supercars, negronis, good food, cigars, and great people?
For this great evening, and in partnership with Armin Strom, we hosted a cocktail, a dinner, and cigars at The Lumen and its Front Door Tavern restaurant. This sleek and modern boutique hotel located in University Park —across from the SMU campus— is one of our favorite places because of the collection of sculptures by artist Brad Oldham that are spread throughout the property.
And what better way to welcome our guests than with a round of perfectly mixed negronis and welcoming remarks from Claude and Jean-Marc. Once settled in, we moved into our private room to learn more about the history of Armin Strom, its values and what makes their resonance watches so special. At the end of the day, only F.P. Journe and Armin Strom can claim to offer an authentic resonance system watch, that in the case of the latter, the CSEM —Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique— has officially certified their resonance system based on the clutch spring as being a real system in resonance.
Then after everyone had already warmed up with a few negronis, we proceeded to have a small presentation followed by a tasty four-course dinner accompanied by a dozen Armin Strom watches and unlimited pours of French wine. While all the watches were very well received by the group, the Pure Resonance —housed in a slimmer 42 mm case— and the Dual Time Resonance Sapphire and Titanium were the real attention grabbers.
Lastly, to wrap up a great evening for a Monday night —unusual day to have this kind of gathering—, we headed over to the rooftop to properly enjoy some Cuban cigars —Partagas and Romeo y Julieta— under clear skies and perfect Dallas weather for this time of the year.
As usual, a delightful evening and yet another night to remember in our watchlife. We hope that our images made you feel like you were there with us.
