Insider: Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Chronograph. A Great Watch Under $10K for Chrono Lovers.

If you like chronographs and you are looking for one that doesn’t break the bank and in the under $10K USD range, the Carl F. Bucherer Chrono is a perfect watch that not only appears much pricier than its actual price tag but also one that offers a clean and very understated look. A watch available in three versions —stainless steel with grey dial and 18K red gold with either black or champagne colored dial— and equipped with a flyback chronograph mechanism. Featuring a mirror polished round case measuring 43 mm in diameter and a double domed sapphire crystal the Manero Flyback Chronograph is very vintage looking and great looking, especially for under $10K USD.

Things to Know About the Watch

The Flyback chronograph presents a cool and stylish look with its stainless steel case and its matte grey dial. The dauphine hands and raised indices in stainless steel round out the elegant look of the new Manero Flyback Chronograph with its clean layout. The dial features two counters with white imprints, one at 9 o'clock for the running seconds and the other at 3 o'clock for the 30-minute chronograph. A convenient date aperture is located at 6 o'clock. With all respect to Vacheron Constantin, there's something about the dial on this new watch that resembles some of the vintage Vacheron Constantin chronographs from mid-century.

In either red gold or stainless steel, the case reflects the lines typical of the Manero series. Precise contours around the edges add an esthetic contrast to the soft curves of the bezel. The polished pump pushers for the chronograph emphasize the classic and somewhat vintage character of this watch. Equipped with a gorgeous tan brown alligator strap with pin buckle, the monochromatic look of the new Manero Flyback Chronograph is simply top notch.

The Movement

The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Chronograph is powered by the automatic movement CFB 1970 with a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement features 25 jewels, is nicely finished and visible via the display case back. While this movement is nothing really fancy, the finishing is up to par with the price point of this watch.

On the Wrist & Price

On the wrist, the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Chronograph with grey dial wears slightly bigger than its actual size and more like a 45 mm watch with great wrist presence. If you like monochromatic watches, grey color palettes and chronographs that looks a little vintage, this new Manero ticks all the boxes, and for the price, you really can't go wrong. In sum, a great looking watch for those of us that love chronographs.
