Baselworld 2017: Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Moon. Live Pictures, Hands-on & Price.
The figure eight layout on the dial of the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde just got much better with the addition of a very realistic moon phase indicator. The new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Moon just released at Baselworld 2017 is available in three different versions: 18K red gold Grande Seconde Moon Ivory Enamel with ivory Grand Feu enamel dial ref. J007533200, in stainless steel Grande Seconde Moon Onyx with black onyx dial ref. J007530270 and also in stainless steel Grande Seconde Moon Silver with silver opaline dial ref. J007530240. Endowed with a pointer-type date indicator and an astronomical moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock, this is by far now, one of the best moon phase watches out there after the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon —our favorite moon phase timepiece. The watch is delivered on a rolled-edge alligator strap with folding clasp.
Things You Need to Know
Equipped with a mirror polished case measuring 43 mm in diameter in 18K red gold or stainless steel, the dial of the new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Moon stays true to the DNA of the brand with its signature figure eight design. The moon phase indicator takes the center stage with a blued steel moon disc with moon and star appliques in 18K red gold and 22K red gold respectively. In a flawless execution, the moon is as realistic as it gets. The off-centered small subdial at 12 o'clock features Roman numerals chapter ring with hour and minutes indication.
While the 18K red gold case ref. J007533200 features a double layer Grand Feu ivory enamel dial, one of the stainless steel versions features a discreet and subtle silver opaline dial where the blued hands create a symphony of contrast and elegance. With red accents on the number '31' and the tip of the pointer date indicator, the elegant look of this watch is simply unparalleled.
Powered by the 30-jewel automatic Jaquet Droz calibre 2660QL3 with silicon balance spring and pallet horns, double barrel, flat bridges and a skeletonized metal oscillating weight, the movement provides a power reserve of 68 hours while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
