Baselworld 2017: HYT H0 Origin. Live Pictures, Hands-on & Price.
Going back to basics means going straight to the very essence. That's exactly why HYT decided to release the new HYT H0 with a fully redesigned case, crystal and look. By focusing on their fluid as their way of telling time, the new HYT H0 features a case that takes its inspiration from a droplet of fluid. With primal curves from a pebble smoothed by the water from a mountain stream, the new HYT H0 is more minimalist and somewhat similar in looks to an Ikepod or a Ressence watch. Augmented by a futuristic design, the minutes can be read via a hand positioned in a subdial at 12 o'clock and the seconds via a small counter at 9 o'clock. The practical cutaway at 2 o'clock enables the power reserve level to be read as necessary. Available in three different colors: black, silver and orange; the new HYT H0 is also much cheaper than its predecessors.
Things You Need to Know
The new redesigned case really limits the use of metal and maximizes the size and shape of the sapphire crystal. The watch measures 48.8 mm in diameter and 17.9 mm in thickness. While the black version features a black DLC titanium case with brushed, micro-blasted and satin-finished finishes, the silver and orange models are fitted with a titanium case. The H0 Black features green fluid, the H0 Silver comes with blue fluid and the H0 Orange is equipped with black fluid.
All three new HYT H0s feature a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the dial side, a screw-down sapphire case back and are water resistant to 30 meters. The watches are equipped with very supple and malleable rubber straps fastened by a deployant buckle in titanium.
Powering the new HYT H0 is the manual wound HYT calibre with 35 jewels. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 to provide a power reserve of 65 hours. This amazing movement with HYT’s exclusive patented micro-fluidic module includes two multi-layer metal bellows, capillary tube in medical grade glass with interior nano-coating, two immiscible liquids —one transparent and the other colored with a highly resistant dye—, thermal compensator with dedicated bellows containing a special liquid and ceramic fluid restrictors. As you can see a quite complex hydrofluidic mechanism that only the hydromechanical horologists could think of making.
On the Wrist & Price
On the wrist, the new HYT H0 wears true to its size and quite big and tall in terms of thickness. While we absolutely love the look of the new HYT H0 we can't get pass the fact that the reduced metal case and the now more prominent domed sapphire crystal make the watch even more fragile. Regardless, this new watch is a stunner in person and priced right for an 'haute horlogerie' watch of this caliber. If you take into consideration that an HYT H1 or an HYT Skull would cost you anywhere between $62,000 USD and $100,000 USD, the new HYT H0 is simply a bargain. Our favorite HYT H0 is the Silver, followed by the Orange and lastly the Black.
