Insider: Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Hand Guilloché Dials by Kari Voutilainen. This Watch Just Got Much Better.

First released at the end of 2016 and then revisited this year at the SIHH 2018, the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance just got considerably better thanks to its new hand guilloché dials created in a variety of colors and finishes by master watchmaker —and one of the authorities in dial and movement decoration— Kari Voutilainen. Available in a wide variety of colors that include blue, black, white, anthracite, bi-color and even red, Armin Strom’s most remarkable timepiece to date is now offered to collectors with superb hand made guilloché dials, delivering an outstanding synergy of modern and classic looks. Additionally, the dials are also offered in different guilloché patterns that include sunray, concentric waves or even 'à grains d'orge' —barleycorn.

About Kari Voutilainen and His Dials

To ensure the best possible result and the highest level of quality, Armin Strom decided to team up with Finnish watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. Kari was born in Finland in 1962 and completed his initial watchmaker’s training at the world renowned watchmaking school of Tapiola in Finland.

With 30+ years of experience, Kari first came to Switzerland in 1989 to attend the International Watchmaking School, where he completed the WOSTEP complicated watch course —a post graduate course for those watchmakers dedicated to the restoration of complicated, high quality rare watches— to then join Parmigiani Mesure et Art du Temps, where over the following ten years he was at the center of the restoration work of some of the world’s rarest pieces as well as the creation of new and original ‘one-off’ pieces.

Since giving back to others has been very important to him, Kari Voutilainen taught for the next three years at the WOSTEP School of Watchmaking, heading the department of complicated watchmaking.

In order to obtain the best results, the dials are manufactured by Voutilainen in his Môtiers-based workshop, on century-old engine-turning lathes, which can only be controlled by hand. The intricate patterns, obtained by chiseling a smooth metallic plate with extreme precision and care, are true pieces of art, reflective of the craftsmen’s skills and virtuosity.

Considering the complex production process of these guilloché dials, an extra cost of CHF 5,000 will be applied to the standard retail price of the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance in either 18K rose gold or stainless steel.
